I know there has been some criticism for it not being very "realistic" and simply structured but it IS a good story and it manages to handle sadness, loss, and the impact our dead can have on us without being elegiac.....Lindquist handled the translation into English himself and the language is spare, un-ornamented and pleasant.  This book has been in The Pile since i got it in 2011 and yesterday i gave it a stir and randomly pulled out this little gem of a book.....(The Pile has no real organizing principle other than a tendency for newer acquisitions to be closer to the top.)  Lindquist wrote this in 1993 and he's done several books since....i know they've been translated in to French, German, and Danish but i've not had time to see what's available in English.   The author maintains a blog and you can check it out by clicking on his here:  (he writes mostly in Swedish and German on his 'blog).
